We survived the Hurricane!

Not my photo but good idea of restoration work in areas all olong the gulf coasts of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and all states hit.

No hate as I absolutely cannot remember the correct name spelling. Category 2 storm slammed into the gilf coast of Florida. While typically we see more damage east of landfall this one was a perfect storm of random that mad the west wall really bad.

As I write this in the dark, on generator and back up power, we got lucky. Our home still stands. We had lots of trees go down taking out brand new wooden gate. Snapped metal hinges in half, but it really can’t compete with entire back fence down. Seperate garage roof is toast and what ever hit the house scraped all eletric meters and auxiliary boxes off the house. Still we consider ourselves very fortunate. At last count there have been 4 dead. Pictures especially in Milton, FL tell just how lucky we are!

Our electric hookup got scraped from the side of our house. October 10, 2026 hurricane Isaias

I decided to write as there is a ton of conflicting news out there. When you are told you must be able to take care of yourself they are not kidding. Power and water are out. Cellphone networks went down last night so no internet or ability to even call someone. Today we spent our day recharging needed items for coming dark. Dusk till dawn curfew after several residents reported attempted looting. Ps. In Florida we stand our Ground! Refueling generator and trying to keep cool become real challenges in 90° weather.

As a disabled woman who lives with 2 seniors it’s a lot. Yet I’m very grateful that we, are here to complain about it. Hurricane Ivan was worse what we had for roughly 5 – 8 hours depending on where you live. Ivan beat for 10 to 12 hours in the dark like that. They clocked 115mph 2 miles from our home.

it really lightens my heart to see groups like the Cajun Navy here. Red Cross and Salvation Army. The dedicated Linemen who 16,000 of them came to help get our power restored. So as I sit here in the dark while my husband makes sure I have the medical equipment I need I’m so thankful to be here. So thankful for everyone who helps without requiring payment, so please if you can volunteer. We did during Ivan. If our health was better we’d be doing it again. To all the relief workers whether it’s ice, water, hot meals, tree and debris clearing or helping clear the way for power restoration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If I miss you please let me know….
