We’ve had these at some very fine restraints over the years so this year I thought I’d try my hand at recreating these. Seasoned beef burger grilled to perfection. Topped with caramelized onions, grilled mushrooms and a slab of blue cheese.
8 1/4lb Angus beef patties
1 medium onion sliced
16 oz fresh sliced mushrooms
4 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp Blackening Seasoning
4 tsp Garlic Powder
2 Tbsp Italian Seasoning
2 tsp Shake N Bake Bbq
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 oz Blue Cheese block or crumbled
8 Artisan Buns
1 lg tomato sliced thinly
Assorted CondimentsNordic Ware Cast Grill N’ Sear Oven Pan. by Nordic Ware
Shape 8 1/4lb patties, or I bought mine done. Available in most stores
Mix Blackening Seasoning, Garlic powder, Italian Seasoning, and Shake N Bake together to form dry rub
Sprinkle evenly over all patties on both sides.
Grill or bake on raised rack in oven at 300°for about 45 minutes. Or 160° internal temperature
In small skillet saute 3/4 of medium onion slices with half of the butter until caramelized. Set aside to cool
In same skillet melt other half of butter and saute mushrooms until slightly wilted and golden brown.
Slice lg tomato and if needed blue cheese.
Toast or grill inside of buns

AssemblyOn open toasted bun place lettuce and tomato. Cooked burger then grilled mushrooms, carmelized onions. Next comes blue cheese. If using crumbles I try to make a slight pool in center of onions for the crumbles of cheese.
Condiments if desired can be added but probably not needed. I recommend trying without ketchup, mustard or mayonnaise first.
